It’s 14 weeks later, and Sloan and Jason wake up in Memphis, though it’s hard to remember what city they’re in daily. The relentless travel schedule is taking its toll on Sloan as she battles sickness and perpetual exhaustion. Aside from occasionally hanging out with Jessa, the lead singer of Jason’s opening band, Grayscale, Sloan is alone. Jason appears unphased by the grueling schedule but recognizes Sloan’s weariness. She’s counting down the days until their holiday break when she can see Kristen and begin working on the commission project. 

Zane arrives with coffee and breakfast and takes Tucker on a walk. When Sloan mentions her excitement for settling down after the tour, Zane reveals that the label just announced that Jason will go on tour again three months after this one ends. Jason doesn’t know, and when she tells him, he immediately calls Ernie. Though Zane thinks the extended tour is a sign Jason is hitting it big, Ernie explains the extension is due to Jason’s continued creative struggles; the tour demands have worsened his writer’s block. Ernie adds that the label has booked Jason to perform on Thanksgiving in Amsterdam and Paris at Christmas.
